why did we invade Iraq besides WMDs?
is this guys answer right?
There were two other reasons (both reasons were baseless and utterly ridiculous). Bush said:
1. Iraq had links to al quaeda. The entire world started laughing, though, and the Bush administration stopped saying that.
2. He just loves the Iraqi people so much – he’s so magnanimous, so full of largesse you know – that he wanted to bring democracy and freedom to iraq. Most of the world continued its laughter after realizing that the US was once one of Saddam’s most ardent supporters in the 1980s (not to mention one of the reasons Saddam initially came to power in a coup). And also after realizing that the US government doesn’t give a sh it about poor Iraqis or poor Chileans or poor Mexicans, or whatever other nationality you wanna put in there.
Those were the "official" reasons. The real reason is because the US wanted to secure critical leverage, as Brzezinski might put it, on the world stage by having a subservient, puppet government in Iraq. It also wanted its multinationals to have access to Iraq’s oil reserves.
The war was simply a brutal, calculated instance of RealPolitik.
It’s really no difference than all the other imperialistic, bull sh it military interventions the US has been involved in. Like overthrowing Allende in Chile and installing Pinochet – who was probably the most brutal dictator in South American history.
That’s probably why the entire world hates/is afraid of the US and it’s merciless Military.
Thank God US Servicemen don’t think for themselves though. I mean some do, of course, but they’re court martialed and reprimanded. Pat Tillman wanted to meet Noam Chomsky, i heard, but you know how that sh it go….
Anyway, you gotta be some kind of brainwashed Retard to wan to join the US Armed forces. Or maybe, like most soldiers, you really don’t have a future cause you can’t get into or finish college so you decide to go fight Brutally Unjust Wars.
GOOD ANSWER BLOBIE, ALTHOUGH I THINK IT’S A LITTLE INCOMPLETE.

Are you really curious as to why we invaded Iraq? Look up PNAC. There were people who wanted us to invade a mideast country long before the 9/11 attacks. These people belonged to a think tank called PNAC, Progress for a New American Century. Quite a few of these knuckleheads ended up in George Dumbya’s cabinet.
The PNACers were found of saying that we should invade Iraq and make it into a puppet country of the USA and all was needed was a Pearl Harbor. In other words, an excuse for us to invade Iraq. The Iraq invasion had nothing to do with 9/11. 9/11 was the PNACers Pearl Harbor.

It sounds like you answered your own question. Can you think of a question you don’t know the answer to?
